Introducing Gala Honoree Rev. Daryl G. Ware

At the Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts’ 37th Anniversary Gala, we will honor JHS 189 Music Teacher Rev. Daryl G. Ware.Pastor Ware Head Shot

Rev. Ware has been a music educator with the New York City Department of Education for 21 years. During his first teaching assignment at Public School Repertory Company, his chorus received many awards, including first place honors in the Music Educators National Conference Black Caucus National High School Choir Competition in 1999 and 2000, and completed a 2-week concert tour in Italy, including a performance at the internationally televised “Christmas at the Vatican” concert.

At JHS 189 in Queens, he teaches Core Music, Chorus and Musical Theatre, and has presented nine Broadway Jr. musicals at Flushing Town Hall through a collaboration with Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts. He has been called on to present workshops for music teachers in the city and the New York State School Music Association.

He was the guest conductor for the Rockland All-County Chorus Concert in 2012, founded the Voices of Unity Gospel Choir, and served as an adjunct instructor at SUNY-New Paltz for many years. Ordained in 2006, he served in several churches as pastor of Worship and the Arts, and in March 2015 was installed as the pastor of First Sharon Baptist Church in East Harlem.

At the Anniversary Gala at Flushing Town Hall, we also will be honoring New York City Council Member Peter Koo and President of Celestial Love Foundation, Inc. Amy Mak Chan. New York 1 Anchor and Reporter Rocco Vertuccio will emcee the event, and Queens Borough President Melinda Katz and New York City Council Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer will be delivering remarks.
