Tomorrow is the big day – our first-ever Jazz Jam All-Stars concert! And it’s an event you won’t want to miss, starring 10 musicians and vocalists who have been part of our monthly Jazz Jams (held the first Wednesday of every month).
There is still time to get tickets. Just visit us here.
And today, we want to introduce you to Sarah Turkiew of Long Island.
Sarah is a charismatic professional musician with loads of musical talent. Her main instrument is the baritone saxophone, which she plays across Long Island as a member of the Northport Jazz Band and the Farmingdale Village Pops. In addition to Flushing Town Hall, she is a regular at jazz jams at Treme, Aperitif, Tap and Barrel, Dunton Inn, and Small’s Jazz Club, among others.
Sarah is a frequently invited guest performer at several restaurants, such as Grasso’s, Guy Anthony, Carmela, and Cinqe Terre. She recently was featured at Minton’s Playhouse in their Young Lions Series of emerging artists. She has been composing music of her own and has recorded her first cd, expected to be released in the fall.
Come experience her beautiful music this Sunday at Flushing Town Hall! This concert fundraiser features the high-caliber musicians who regularly perform at the Louis Armstrong Monthly Jazz Jam backed by our house band – Joe Vincent Tranchina, Eric Lemon, and Scott Neumann – led by Carol Sudhalter. Reception at 6 PM, followed by a celebratory group photo reminiscent of “A Great Day of Harlem.”
