By hook and by book, Flushing Town Hall is encouraging readers to enjoy the classic story of a boy who would not grow up this season and then attend the upcoming production—all the way from England—by tutti frutti and the York Theatre Royal of Underneath a Magical Moon, which reimagines the tale through a fresh lens.
“Underneath the Magical Moon stems from one of the most classic and enjoyable tales about a mischievous boy who never grows up, and what a better way for a reader to continue that journey into a wonderous fantasyland then to see the story come alive on stage with a new perspective,” says Ellen Kodadek, Executive and Artistic Director at Flushing Town Hall. “As an avid reader, I encourage people young and old, and those who never want to grow up, to pick up a copy, pore through it, and then visit us on March 24.”
Flushing Town Hall will grant discounted attendance to anyone who brings their Peter Pan book (from a library or from their own collection) to its Box Office that day. Tickets to the 2:15 PM show are $14/$10 members/$8 children/$6 members children – but when bringing the book, adults can get the $10 member price (and children can get the $6 member price). Existing Flushing Town Hall members get an additional 10% discount with the Peter Pan book!
Additionally, Flushing Town Hall continues to open its doors to teenagers – for free. Under the “Teen Access Program,” all 13- to 19-year-old teens (whether a member or not) will be welcomed to attend any performance for free. The program is designed to appeal to students and help foster a greater love for arts and culture.
Just before that afternoon’s presentation, at 1:00 PM, the director and actors will present an interactive workshop that explores the ideas in the production. The workshop is for ages three and up, and is a playful, fun chance to meet some of the characters from the show. Tickets to the workshop are $8/$5 children/free for members and teens with tickets to 2:15 PM show (RSVP required). Tickets can also be purchased at www.flushingtownhall.org or by calling (718) 463-7700 x222.
